Hi Dr. Kay, I talked with you at the Reading League conference and you looked at a lesson plan I had created. I just wanted to tell you, I’ve been using KAT lessons with my incarcerated adult students for about two weeks, and all of them have told me that they are understanding passages so much easier. Two of my students who have been struggling to pass the Reasoning through Language Arts class have been in my KAT class one or two days, and they both say it’s like their eyes have been opened and they are beginning to realize their errors in taking the tests.

Yesterday, I had my class do an informational writing paragraph using the handout from your generic lesson materials. I had people staying after class to complete their paragraphs! I’ve never, in over 9 years of working here, had that happen! Obviously, there were varying degrees of quality in these paragraphs, but I know for at least one guy, this is the first paragraph he’s ever written.

It’s time consuming to make the lessons, and I’m trying to keep up, but I just wanted you to know they are instantly being helpful and my students are seeing the difference immediately. Not everyday that happens!!!"
